Joey began his private practice in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle back in 2006. Since then he's maintained a full caseload working with adults and teens on concerns from anxiety to gender dysphoria. With the community need growing and a want for creating space for new therapists to gain experience in sex-positive and gender therapy work, he began the south Seattle wellness collective: transmission wellness. Its mission is to create safe space for all body types to experience care for their mental health and wellness regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or relationship style.

 

He has worked with and been part of the LGBTQ+ community in multiple realms of mental health, non-profits, and education. Much of his work has been centered around clients in non-monogamous relationships and/or those approaching gender transition -- including help with creating unique ways to express gender within the boundaries of our day-to-day lives.

 

He is a licensed mental health counselor and approved supervisor in Washington state. He utilizes ACT and CBT models. He mainly works with tweens, teens and adults; family sessions can be incorporated when it best suits a treatment goal.
